- Molasses Cookies

- Cream 1 cup lard and 1 cup brown sugar. Add 2 cups
- sorghum molasses, 2 even tablespoons of soda dissolved
- in 1 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon each of ginger and
- cinnamon sifted with flour to make a stiff dough. Let
- it stand overnight, roll out, spread with sugar, cut and
- bake in a quick oven. This is a never failing recipe.

- Honey Cookies

- Heat together 1/4 cup water, 2 cups brown sugar
- (rounded), 1/2 cup lard and 1 cup honey. When lard is
- melted add yolks of 4 eggs and 6 cups cake flour in
- which has been sifted 1 teaspoon soda, same of cinnamon
- and cloves. Roll and cut into any size desired and
- place a small piece of citron in the center of each
- cookie.

- Over Night Caramel Cookies

- Mix together 7 cups cake flour, 4 cups brown sugar, 1
- teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon each of soda and cream
- tartar. Then add 1 cup melted lard(but do not have hot),
- and 4 well beaten eggs. Mix well and add 1&1/2
- tablespoons vanilla extract. Form into 4 or 5 rolls and
- let stand overnight in a cool place. Slice thin and bake
- in a moderate oven. These are rich and crisp. The recipe
- will make about 2 gallons of cookies.

- Cry Babies

- One egg, 1 cup lard, 1 cup molasses, 1 teaspoon soda
- dissolved in 1 cup boiling water, 1/2 nutmeg grated and
- 5 cups flour, mix well, Drop on greased tins and bake in
- quick oven.

- Vanilla Wafers

- Cream together 1 cup sugar and 1/3 cup lard and butter
- mixed. Add 1 well beaten egg, 1/4 cup milk, a pinch of
- salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Sift 1 heaping teaspoonful
- baking powder into 1 cup flour and add to batter. Then
- add enough flour to make a dough that will roll well.
- Cut size of a half dollar, place on buttered baking tin
- and bake in a moderate oven. These are very fine.

- Cinnamon Crisps

- Cream tohether 3/4 cup sugar and 1/3 cup lard. Add 1
- teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup sweet milk, 2 teaspoons
- baking powder sifted in 1/2 cup flour. Mix together and
- add a little more milk, enough to make a dough that can
- be rolled properly. Roll very then and cut. Bake in a
- quick oven.
